With a strong performance in the FEI Final Test for five-year-old horses, Germany’s Laura Strobel made a perfect start to the second competition day of the CDI Achleiten (CDI3*). After finishing second in Friday’s Preliminary Test with Villazon Royal MT, the rider from Gestüt Vorwerk went one better this time, claiming victory with a score of 82.600%.

Second place went to Ricarda Mombach (GER) and Louboutin 8, the winners of Friday’s Preliminary Test, with 79.800%. Upper Austrian Marie-Theres Holzleitner and Jamy completed the podium in third place with 77.200%.

Villazon Royal MT particularly impressed the judges with his quality gaits and natural balance. He received 8.2 for trot, 8.0 for walk, 8.6 for canter, 8.0 for submission and 8.5 for future perspective. The judges also praised the young horse’s balance throughout the test, his confident simple changes, and his natural quality and positive energy.

Laura Strobel, who is once again tackling a packed schedule with her horses this weekend, also gives a positive assessment: “I’m very satisfied today, even though Villazon lost his focus a bit at times. But we also had a lot of great moments. I’m really impressed with how he’s kept going after this long week. He’s shown just how much of a competitor he is and how ambitious he is in the arena—sometimes maybe a little too much, but overall, he was a real pleasure to ride.”ch
