Successful test for the Olympics

All good things come in threes: Victoria Max-Theurer and Abegglen FH NRW also took the home victory in the Grand Prix Special at the international four-star dressage tournament!

The potential Austrian Olympic duo was given a score of 72.617 percent by the top-class panel of judges in the most difficult dressage competition in the world. In Achleiten, only five-star judges judged the Grand Prix tours, including two nominees for the Paris Olympic jury, Michael Osinski (USA) and Susanne Baarup (DEN).

In second place, the Swiss Charlotte Lenherr celebrated 68.723 percent for her round with Sir Stanley W. After fourth place in the Grand Prix the day before, she seems to have won the race in the federal battle for the individual Olympic ticket. Third, as in the Grand Prix, was the German Lisa Müller with Gut Wettlkam’s Zonik Hit OLD with 67.872 percent.

Victoria Max-Theurer at the award ceremony: "I am very, very happy with him. He was focused and listened to me well. The mistake in the middle line is due to my riding helmet, I wasn't quick enough in the head to prepare the changes accordingly. That was a bit of a follow-up mistake. The second pirouette went well again, thank God. We managed to save it. But the rest is getting better and better, we are on a very good path."

Speaking of path. "First of all, we have a lot of organizational work to do. The planning with all the trimmings. But Abegglen is now getting his well-deserved break. Then we will concentrate on preparing," says the 38-year-old Upper Austrian about the next steps towards a possible fifth Olympic participation.

By the way: even though the German Lisa Müller was not entirely satisfied with her round in the Grand Prix Special with her newcomer Gut Wettlkam’s Zonik Hit OLD (“there were a few avoidable, expensive mistakes”), after the almost perfect European Championship tip for the opening match between Germany and Scotland (“3:0, an early goal will be important”), she had another prediction for her husband Thomas Müller’s next game at the European Football Championship: “Even though we got off to a good start, it will definitely be harder against Hungary. That’s why I would say 2:1 for us next time!”
