Day two at the international four-star dressage tournament in Achleiten and national champion Christian Schumach followed up his Grand Prix victory on Friday with a victory in the Freestyle on Saturday.
The Carinthian danced to Italian pop tunes with his 15-year-old mare Donna Karacho and reached 73.840 percentage points, which meant the narrow victory ahead of the German Stefanie Schatz-Weihermüller and C'est la vie (73.535 %).
The victory could have been clearer had Donna Karacho not gone out of stride on the final line in the piaffe. "A little misunderstanding, but that´s on me," said the Olympic competitor.
Overall, the first Freestyle victory for Christian Schumach and his satisfied final balance remains: "Donna is becoming more and more relaxed, there is more and more routine coming in. Today I also got into the riding a lot more. I am especially pleased with the always honest feedback from my riding colleague and friend Peter Gmoser, who said our canter pirouette today was very successful."
