The international three-star tournament in the Achleiten castle park started on Friday with a victory by local hero Victoria Max-Theurer in the Grand Prix of the Special Tour. The multiple Olympic competitor scored 73.609 percentage points with Birkhof's Topas FBW in front of the high-calibre international panel of judges after a beautiful round and won sovereignly in the end.
Lisa Wernitznig and Quintus caused a small surprise and took second place with 71.435 percent. The two-time Olympic gold medallist Dorothee Schneider (GER) and Dayman 4 completed the podium with 70.870 percent.
The championship-experienced Florian Bacher, who will carefully build up his one horse Fidertraum towards the European Championships, took fourth place with the 13-year-old Amonitas (69.370 percent). For the red-white-red duo it was only their second Grand Prix together. "Basically I was very satisfied, even though we had a few mistakes in the test. That speaks for the quality of the horse. I already had a much better feeling, like at the last Grand Prix - we can build on that. We can certainly solve some passages better and tune ourselves even better, but that will come with time and routine. I have already looked at the ride and the protocol. I would say that 2-3 percent are still possible. Our plan is that he also goes to the second show in Achleiten. It is important that he comes out more often now and finds his rhythm," summed up Olympic rider Florian Bacher.
