Emotional home victory for Max-Theurer

The international four-star dressage tournament in Achleiten (Upper Austria) reached its climax on Sunday with the Grand Prix Special and another home victory for Victoria Max-Theurer and Abegglen FH NRW.

The 39-year-old Upper Austrian and her Olympic horse were awarded 74.510 percent by the distinguished jury in the concluding Grand Prix Special, marking their ninth victory together at the home tournament in Achleiten. Second place went to Finland’s Henri Ruoste with Tiffany’s Diamond (73.894%) after a strong performance. Charlotta Rogerson (SUI) completed the top three with Bonheur de la Vie and 69.213 percent. Two-time Austrian dressage champion Peter Gmoser finished sixth with Dant’s Daiquiri (67.404%).

“I was really very pleased with him today. He closed the test beautifully for me, with strong marks and even a few nines – that was impressive. Of course, there’s still room for improvement, especially in prioritizing certain elements, but overall the ride was very nice and relaxed. What stood out particularly was his expression – he was much more relaxed today, and that directly affected how he felt under saddle,” said the multiple Olympic participant, adding: “I felt completely at ease. Communication with the horse is a central element for me: through body language, trust, and constant attentiveness. You provide a sense of security, give praise along the way – that’s important. And today, everything just came together. I’m really happy.”
